Rollercoasters - Assessment time!
How do you guys suggest we should assess the rollercoaster work? What criteria would you like to use? What method do you think would work best? How can we tie this in with the National Curriculum levels?

Roller coaster assessment.
Criteria:-1. G-force check (safeness)
2.How fun is the ride
3.How safe is the roller coasters structure.
Method:- Work with a partner and watch each others roller coasters through to see how fun and safe the ride is. After you have watched the ride write your evaluation into word of your partners roller coaster (Give marks out of 10 for the ride criteria’s).

How we will assess the rollercoaster
• We will judge each others by appearance, how safe it is, how much experimenting you have used on your ride.
• Is it thrilling, boring, cool?
• Or we could even judge it ourselves but we might be bias.
• Present information in different forms.
June 20th, 2006 at 9:26 am
Criteria
•Is it safe?
•How thrilling is it?
•Does it show a sense of achievement?
Method
Get into pairs and assess each others roller coasters, then split up and find a different partner and assess their work while they assess you’re work.

Roller Coaster Assessment
3 criteria
~ How fast does the roller caster go too fast too slow or just ok?
~ Is the roller coaster safe?
~ How fun is it?
Method
Go in groups and talk about your own roller coaster, and how you can improve your own and each others. Then watch each others roller coaster then help to improve in different ways. Even the look of the roller coaster matters. You can go on websites and look at real life coasters e.g. shock waves to try and get them better.

My three criteria for my rollercoaster will be safety, thrill and original imagination. To meet this criteria I have made my ride safe by not letting the vertical or horizontal G force get out of control and I have made it exiting by adding twists turns and a large drop. I used my imagination to make my rollercoaster ride over lava and flow up past a mountain.
June 20th, 2006 at 9:26 am
Rollercoaster criteria
. Quality of ride
.The layout of the rollercoaster
. Safety of ride
METHOD
The method for accessing the rollercoaster I think should be ……
I think we should use group assessments. This would help because we will get different conclusions to the rollercoaster and we can make good conclusions.
i think using the differnt criteria will help get a good conclusion to the rollercoasters.

Rollercoaster assessment
My three themes for my rollercoaster will be –
• Safety
• Excitement
• Imagination
To meet these criteria I have put lots on twists, turns and drops in my ride to make it exiting and to make the passengers feel like it’s not a waste of time. I have also made my rollercoaster safe and even though it is an exiting ride, it is not dangerous. Lastly, there is imagination. I think my rollercoaster is quite imaginative because there is a long tunnel, the track is pink, and the layout of my ride is good. I don’t think passengers would find my ride boring.

[[*Roller Coaster Criteria*]]
•Efficiency
•Safety
•appearance
[[*Method*]]
•The method I think we should use for marking our roller coaster is peer assessment. Each rollercoaster can then be given a mark for each of the criteria’s out of ten.

1. How much scenery has it got, if it has what kind.
2. What is the safety like?
3. How is the name linked with the ride?
4. How fast is the ride?
5. What kind of coaster has it got?
June 20th, 2006 at 9:32 am
Three things that are important for my roller coaster
Criteria
• It needs to be safe
• It needs to be exciting
• It needs to be at the correct speed
Method of assessing criteria
• If its not safe the figures turn red
• Watch the ride on simulator mode
• Watch the speedometer in the corner of the screen

•Have you used the software to change the scenery and features of the roller coaster?
•Is it safe enough and would people actually want to ride it?
•Does it have a good and imaginative name that will attract people to the ride?

How will we assess the roller coasters you have made?
Aperance
Safety
Qualtiy
Method
The first way you could assess the roller coasters we have made is, do a pier assessment where pupils of the same age watch through our coaster{s} and give some feedback of witch things are good or bad.
We could also do a tick chart where you have to have qualities in different areas in order to get to a higher mark {or level}.
Another way we could assess our work is have a small group of about 3 and assess each others work.
June 20th, 2006 at 9:37 am
1 How much scenery they have got.
2 How safe it is.
3 How fast the ride is.
4 What kind of coasters do they have?
June 20th, 2006 at 9:38 am
ROLER COASTER CRITEREA
1)Is the ride safe?
2)Are the ride and the name linked?
3)Does it look attractive and do people to want to go on it?
June 22nd, 2006 at 11:38 am
how will we assess the rollercoaster?
safety
thrill factor/ adrenaline factor (speed, turns, twists etc)
height/length of ride
the rollercoaster should be judged in each factor by 10 with a overall score out of 30.
June 22nd, 2006 at 11:44 am
3 ways for judging how good the rollercoaster designs are:
• The fun and excitement of when you are on the rollercoaster
• How long the rollercoaster goes on for and the colours
• How high it goes and fast and smooth
Method of assessment
• It could be assessed by a teacher because that would be fair they could give you a level and they would give the truth
June 22nd, 2006 at 11:44 am
The speed, it can’t be too fast, that people are scared stiff and it can’t be too slow that it bores people.
The excitement of the rollercoaster is important, so that people will recommend it to others so they can ride it.
The name, can help, because it will attract people to the ride, and make every one want to ride the rollercoaster.
The method of assessment that would be fairest might be a score chart out of 10, or write down all the good things about it and calculate an overall score, I also think it would be better for a teacher to assess it.
June 22nd, 2006 at 11:44 am
• The excitement and the thrill is a big part of assessing your roller coaster.
• The speed and smoothness of the ride also import .
• A really amazing name would boost popularity because people would think it was cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The method of assessment would be fairest if you put it in a table and give it a score out of 10 or write good things about it overall.

Roller coaster criteria
1. How safe is the ride? Mark out of 10.
2. How fun is the ride? Mark out of 10.
3. Appearance? Mark out of 10.
I think we should mark our roller coasters using peer assessment.
June 22nd, 2006 at 11:58 am
• Is it fun? (Scale 1-10)
• Is it safe? (Scale 1-10)
• Was it good overall (Scale 1-10)
• Let other people judge it
June 22nd, 2006 at 11:58 am
• Is it fun? Scale (1 to 10)
• Is it safe? scale (1 to 10)
• Is it scary? scale (1 to 10)
June 22nd, 2006 at 12:16 pm
work with a partner and watch each others rollercoasters. then see wat you like about each others roller coaster. like…..
~how fun it is
~if it is long enuff
and other thing like that!!!!!
June 22nd, 2006 at 1:42 pm
same as cmjr really hes got it covered
June 22nd, 2006 at 1:42 pm
My three things in my criteria are
The speed
How many times red numbers come up
And how safe it is
I will choose three random people to asses it under my criteria
June 22nd, 2006 at 1:43 pm
not how safe it is how fun it is soz
June 22nd, 2006 at 1:44 pm
These are the following factors fr my rollercoaster:
Landscape
Excitement
Safety
June 22nd, 2006 at 1:44 pm
How to assess a rollercoaster
I will assess:
• Safety
• Fun+apperance
• Quality of structure
My method will be work with a partner and judge these three things. We will add these marks out of ten and give it an overall mark out of 30.
June 22nd, 2006 at 1:45 pm
my 3 things are:
safty,was it worth the money.
fun or like every other rollercoster’s.
time it take to get round the track.
June 22nd, 2006 at 1:45 pm
Methods of assessments
1. How many times the coaster goes into the red-How safe is it?
2. Is it enjoyable (fun)?
3. How does it look (appearance)?
Method
To achieve these criteria’s we should go into groups of about 3 people, watch through each rollercoaster once and give it a mark out of 10 for each of the criteria’s given above.
June 22nd, 2006 at 1:46 pm
A criteria for judging is:
Are there any red areas on the g’s?
Does the rollercoaster go through anything e.g. tracks?
Is the rollercoaster exciting?
The fairest method is just one person judging on each computer (do it by your self)
June 22nd, 2006 at 1:46 pm
it must be appealing to all and must be fun and
safe
June 22nd, 2006 at 1:48 pm
I think the 3 main criteria for judging our rollercoasters are:
• The g-force and lateral (basically, how safe it is)
• Is it exciting, enjoyable? Would you ride it again?
• Looks and name, any link?
The method?
One person in the class will watch everyone’s rollercoaster and give them a mark out of ten. Then they can be the results. Also everyone should write an evaluation of their rollercoaster and they should go into consideration.
June 22nd, 2006 at 1:48 pm
How to assess our rollercoaster’s
The rollercoaster assessment should consider:
1.times it goes into red
2.speed
3.length
The method I will use is:
1.Watching the figures on simulator mode to see if they go into red.
2. Time how long the roller coaster takes to finish.
June 22nd, 2006 at 1:48 pm
Criteria for judging our rollercoasters.
I think the 3 main things to judge our rollercoasters are the safenees, the excitement when you ride the coaster on a scale of 1-10 and the design. (e.g if there are fast bits and slow bits)
The method of marking it should be that 1 group goes on them all then rates the main criteria’s on a scale of 1 to 10 then all the other groups do the same then compare the rides and say which ones are best.

How to assess a rollercoaster
Rollercoaster assessment.
• Safety
• Fun and appearance
• Quality of structure
My method would be is to work with a partner to judge and comment on each of your rollercoaster’s. Each asses will be marked out of 10 making total mark of 30.
June 22nd, 2006 at 1:49 pm
SAFTY EXCITMENT THRILL SIZE LANDSCAPE HOW FAST PAINT JOB
June 22nd, 2006 at 1:49 pm
• We are going to judge our rollercoaster’s by appearance
• Is it thrilling boring sad sickly??
• Is it safe to ride??
• The pace of the roller coaster.
• Imagination!!
• The layout of roller coaster!!
• How fun would it be to be the rider.
• The quality of the ride.
method
we join up into groups and look at each others roller coasters and comment on them maybe write them up in word then after give them a mark out of 10 dont let them see the score till they have done yours because they just might give the score you gave them because they think it would be unfair to not give then a higher or lower score than yours!!
June 22nd, 2006 at 1:50 pm
I think It’s important to think about
Colour
Safeness
Coolness
June 22nd, 2006 at 1:57 pm
Three criteria
• We have decided to access our rollercoaster’s by its appearance.
• How safe the ride is. Is it a thriller or a sickly ride???
• How fast is the pace of the rollercoaster?
• What is the layout like and structure??
• How fun will it be for the rider??
• The quality of the rollercoaster.
method:
we go into groups of three/four and look at eachothers roller coasters and give them a mark out of 10.
